Back in March I was lucky enough to go to Kansas City to watch Geoff play in the National Tournament. While I was there, we made a few trip out to Lenexa - where I grew up. It was so much fun to see all these places I remember from living there...my old house, school, grocery stores, and parks. I've been meaning to post picture for a while now - but I'm just now getting around to it.
First off, this is my old house. I lived in this house for 15 years. It hasn't changed much, except that the people who live there haven't taken very good care of it. Going up in front of the house are steps that made out of railroad ties. It's also where my mom fell and broke her ankle one winter. To the right of the steps is a rock wall that my dad also put in. It's too bad it falling apart.
This is our old street sign. Our address was 7933 Swarner. While we were taking pictures of this sign, our old neighbor was out for a walk with had grand kids. We were able to talk to him for a little bit and it was weird to hear how much the neighborhood has changed.
This Shawnee Mission Medical Center - the hospital me, my little brother and little sister were born at.
Christa McAuliffe is my old elementary school. We were the McAuliffe Astronauts.
This is the sign from my old middle school - Trailridge. We moved in the middle of my 8th grade year.
Lastly, this the carousel at Oak Park Mall. This mall was where we used to go shopping. We would also get cookies from Mrs. Fields and ride this carousel.
It was weird how at home I felt being back there - after 9 years of living in Utah. I miss Kansas a lot. It really is a good place to live. But I also love living in Utah.
Don't worry...while I was there we were able to go to Lawrence to see my sister. She took us on a tour of the University of Kansas. Before we left, I was also able to drag Geoff back down to Lawrence to see KU - and to go to Allen Fieldhouse. Those pictures are coming...
